Spatial Video vs Full SBS — What's the Difference?

Both formats deliver 3D content, but they differ in compatibility and use case:

Spatial Video (MV-HEVC):

  • Designed primarily for Apple Vision Pro
  • Single file that works as 2D on regular devices
  • Compact file size with efficient compression
  • Limited headset support (Apple ecosystem)

Full Side-by-Side (SBS):

  • Works on virtually all VR headsets (Meta Quest, Pico, Samsung XR, etc.)
  • Two full-resolution views side by side
  • Larger file size but maximum quality
  • Requires a 3D-capable video player

If you have an Apple Vision Pro, choose Spatial Video. For Meta Quest or other VR headsets, choose Full SBS. If you want both, XclusiveVR can convert your video to either format.
